Carolina Thread Trail to Present to Rowan County Board of Commissioners
On July 6, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. the Carolina Thread Trail organization will present its plan for Rowan County to the Rowan board of commissioners for the second time. Carolina Thread Trial is described, on their website, as “A network of greenways, trails and blueways that reaches 15 counties, 2 states and 2.3 million people.” It was initially presented in 2009 to be voted down by a 4 to 1 vote.
Three new commissioners have since taken office who have been interviewed and expressed they will support it. Nevertheless, we need a strong showing of support at this meeting. When our elected leaders are making decisions for the public, their minds can change if they think the public support is nonexistent.
According to sources, the primary reason for commission’s past lack of support is fear of land acquisition through eminent domain. The Carolina Thread Trail organization has consistently stated policy restricting the use of land acquired through eminent domain.
A Facebook event has been setup for the meeting. If you are on Facebook, please join the event and engage in discussion here:

If you are absolutely unable to make the meeting, please consider sending an email to each of the commissioners on the board letting them know you support Carolina Thread Trial in Rowan County.
